Mark and Teresa Harman, Level 3 British Triathlon coaches with TriHarman-Norfolk have introduced many triathletes to open water swimming. We have another course planned for 2020 which will be ideal for those moving up to open water events or in preparation for the open water race season. It is a great confidence builder.
The training is spread over two days the 9th and 10th May 2020. It starts with a pool session 6pm to 8pm at the Splash Leisure Centre, Sheringham where we have use of the whole pool. There we practice the open water swimming techniques in the warm safe pool environment. This will include water safety, sighting, turning, drafting and the mass start. We will also give guidance on getting the best out of your wetsuit and the opportunity to try on and swim in your wetsuit.
The following morning we meet at a local open water venue, The Mike Thurston Water Activities Centre, off Little London Road, North Walsham. This venue is a fresh water lake, ideal for first time open water swimmers but big enough for more experienced swimmers to practice their open water swimming techniques. The coaches help all the swimmers repeat the techniques learned at the pool in the cold lake waters.
To ensure each swimmer gets the support they need we limit swimmer numbers to fifteen, booking on a first come first served basis. The course fee is £40 per swimmer and this includes your pool entry fee and lake access fee. A deposit of £10 will secure your place.
